The danger of blue light on electronics

I searched for a topic on blue light on computers and devices and found nothing. I saw the eye doctor last week and they asked about my health and I told him I had trouble sleeping. He told me about blue lights used in computers, phones and tablets. He said they will cause a sleep problem and other vision problems, the end result is macular degeneration. He suggested a filter called Eye Care Browser, but it did not work on my Ipads. He also gave me a pamphlet from Harvard that discussed the problem of blue light. Later my ipads were updated and it took 3 hours, later I found an option called Night Shift, that was a filter. I had not seen that option on the ipads before. I have activated Night Shift on both of my eye pads. I found f.lux on the net which is a filter for PCs. Do you all know about this and what do you do to protect your eye sight.

I did not use any electronics for a couple of days, except email and I slept a lot better.

I did. Don't know if those web sites will help you out or not. I don't know anything about blue light either.

I have already researched a lot of it and it all says about the same thing. I asked the eye doctor what is going to happen to these children who get tablets and other devices, he said "macular degeneration. In other words they will probably go blind.

My eyes are very irritated and the cornea is swollen, not sure the cause of that. It is such a new thing, many won't believe it. People I talk to about radiation from their cells don't believe that either.

I did find something that might help you out if you can find the glasses.

Blue light has a dark side - Harvard Health

If you work a night shift or use a lot of electronic devices at night, consider wearing blue-blocking glasses.
Tips. Since I have eye problems. A gray computer theme may help or a high contrast themes may also help with eye strain, just depends on the person.

I maybe a little prejudice here because of my experiences with doctors. If you haven't seen one, I would recommend seeing an Ophthalmologist not an Optometrist or not an optician. Just to make sure it is not more serious. If you already have seen an Ophthalmologist, I would recommend seeing another even if you have to go out of town.

Groze my eye doctor knows what the problem is and he said it is not serious enough to do the repair surgery yet. Lazer surgery is not uncommon after cataracts are removed. A surgeon could not do anything more than the optometrist did. It depends on how fast the problem progresses. At my age I may never need it. I will be 80 on my next birthday.

    Hi,
Yep that is an old saying and who knows if true or not
It's pretty easy to shut down and have no lighting at all which is what I do anyway.
I do like it as dark as possible and I don't have any computers in my bedroom
Cell phone does not put off any lighting.

The only item that has a light is an alarm clock and I just lay something on top of it :)

I put my alarm clock at the foot of the bed on a table against the wall. I made sure I bought one with very large numbers.

I believe the blue light danger is real, I have been sleeping a lot better since I put on the filter and reading for only 20 or 30 minutes at a time. I have also put my monitor an arm's length away and of course had to use no squint to adjust the zoom and fonts so I can read them.

Yea I believe all of this pure white background stuff is more damaging than any blue light stuff
But who's to argue the point :)
I like it dark and machines Off.

I have always complained about the bright white MS puts on our computer. I use FF and the ad on No Squint, so I my pages are a puke pink. I love it.
