If you mean your microphone most people don't but if you get some type of malware it's possible for them to use you mic and webcam, Some people worry about that and some even put a piece of black tape to cover their webcam,
If you are talking about an AVAMP then yes as they use lots of power and generate lots of heat when active. Most receivers have a standby mode they go into that saves power, I would recommend to let it go into this or do turn it off if it does not have it as it will save on your heating bill.
I just check my Yamaha R-V502 Receiver manual. There is no standby option for my model. What else can I do?
