    Friends

I've had several people request to be listed as friends, to which I agreed, because friends are always good, but I got to wondering if there is any particular significance to that on this forum. On another forum that I once participated in, that would cause the last post of a listed friend to show up on the members page, but if it is like that here, I haven't found it. Is there a specific advantage to this, or is it simply a courtesy?

    hi and welcome

Mostly courtesy. It is also an easy way to go to the friends profile page. just jump into friends, click on their name and you are there.

    Hope this helps

    Hello Seekermeister,

It's mostly for courtesy, but you can set the Vistor Messages and Private Messages setting in your "User CP" to only receive from your "Contacts & Friends" instead of all members.

Thanks, but so far, I haven't had a need to prevent anyone from PMing me. I just thought that it would be nice if like at the other forum, a person would be given a headup when a friend was online.

It may not be the same, but at the bottom of the homepage, the members listed that have a + sign at the end of their user name are your added friends.

Plus, if you ever needed to block someone, you can use the edit ignore list in your User CP to add that member to block them.

Thanks, but that caused my to notice another incongruity in the forum design. Normally, the members who are signed in are listed alphabetically, with the exception of one's self, which usually is at the first of the list. Here there is no such order, and it makes it difficult to find a particular person in the list...unless he does have a + by their name.
