Well, it won't be me lol! I stop in here every week or so but usually don't even bother to sign in. Its gotten to the point that its been so long since I've even SEEN a 7 machine that I feel I can't offer much help here and let's face it, that's the main reason most of us are here ... to help. I kinda miss that to tell you the truth. Conversely, I haven't had enough problems with my 10 machines to "learn" how to fix them so I don't post on Ten Forums much either. That's how I learned the other O.S.'s I've used, by fixing my own problems. The ONLY problem I've had with my current machine was my own fault and I just reset it and everything is fine again. Hell, I could have fixed THAT problem too, but it was just easier and less time consuming to reset. I love 10 and would never even think about going back. Contrast THAT statement with others I made about staying on 7 till I got my wings or pitchfork, whichever will be applicable . Lol, Microsoft sort of threw me a curveball with 10 being so freaking good (FOR ME AT LEAST), because now I don't really have a place to go to talk computers etc. My "new" O.S. is so good I can't learn to fix it ....... ahhhhhh ...... first world troubles huh?

Anyway, nice to see a few old friends, even if just their posts. A special shoutout to Brink for his amazing tutorials over at Ten Forums (and here too of course). First place I go whenever I reinstall for either myself or others.

I am used to Windows 7 now and am not looking forward to the day Microsoft ceases support. My cousin has Windows 10 and she doesn't like it because she says everything runs like an app rather than having icons to select from (if I understood her correctly). About a year ago, MS tried to sneak Windows 10 into their monthly patch download. I tried to uninstall it, but then got nag messages to download it. Now I forgot what I had to do to stop that - probably had to change something in the download settings. I'm an old lady and having to learn a new system is much more difficult that it used to be. I'd still be using Windows 98 if my modem had supported it.

My friends are trying to downgrade their laptops from Windows 10 to 7 because they just don't like it. I told them to stop because they wouldn't get any support from their hardware and "I just don't like it" isn't a good reason.

    Hi,
I don't like it seems to be a personal preference and is always all that is needed :)
And with that in mind it is well worth it to try another os whether that is win-7 or Linux... it does not matter one must try something else

IMO, that is a perfectly valid reason not to use W10.
Of course it's too late for your friends, as they will already be counted as W10 converts.

"I just don't like it", killed:

    • Vista
    • The W8 Series

If people stop buying W10, MS will have to release something else (or drop Windows altogether).

Rewarding MS for releasing low quality software, will just encourage them to release even worse software in the future.
