no internet at parents house :(

i'm home for the thanksgiving holiday week. And my parents forgot to tell me they got rid of the internet cause they never used it. So i'm running around the house room to room trying to find a neighbors wifi that isnt password protected. The only one that i can detect i barely get one bar. GRRRRRs curse anti technology parents.

Looks like its either that or find a store or something that has wifi.

The 'net is definitely addicting, isn't it?

You could consider a cellular aircard with which you could have internet access almost everywhere. I've had one from Verizon for about 2 years now. The drawback is that it costs $60/month for the service. I mostly use it when I travel in my RV but it comes in handy as a backup when my main ISP at home goes down.

Good excuse for spending the weekend in some nice local "drinking Hostelry" - Most decent ones usually have some sort of Free Wifi service - at least they do here.

    Cheers

The ideal time to spend time with your parents and appreciate having somewhere and someone to spend the holidays with, the Internet will still be there when you get back to your own place.

I've got a blackberry and the Verizon VZ access application which allows me to use my phone as a modem for my computer. Work pays for the phone and I get something like 5GB a month in bandwidth...so I use this when I have no other options.

it certainly is, but after any length of 'detoxing' you start to wonder what the big deal was and suddenly find the real world is infinitely more interesting again.

...And then you get the net back and swear you'll never go without it again

...and I thought it was bad having to use my parents computer to use internet...but to plain not have net would suck!

Sounds like it's time to cozy-up to the neighbors and try to barrow their WiFi
