    Mad YouTube Mods

Just before X-Mas I was doing my usual viewing of vids on YouTube, whilst making comments on said vids. It's an account that I've had for at least 10 years with no problems. Well, I left the computer for a few hours and when I returned I found that I'd been permanently banned for spamming???? I've never spammed in my life! I find it ironic because I'm always getting mad at all the ads on YouTube! My guess is that the "person" I was having an argument with just before must've flagged all my comments as spam, which resulted in me getting a ban. Needless to say I put in an appeal. But nope, they wouldn't back down. I've checked since and I'm far from the only one to get such a ban without any evidence. Is there any way to get my account back other than going through YouTube themselves?

They are the only ones that can undo a ban. You can however create a new account. However if they catch you they might ban you again. You can watch most videos without logging in.

I was wrongly banned from a different forum, and went back in with a new ID and one of my other email addresses. They saw my IP address was the same, and out I went.

I've been checking elsewhere and others have indeed been banned from YouTube in exactly the same circumstances, where they've been banned for spamming when they haven't. In my case I don't even upload any vids. I just make comments on existing vids. All the other complaints of unfair bans have reported having exactly the same reply (word for word) when they've appealed, which makes me think the appeal system is automated. Others have said that their banning and appeal system is extremely screwed up. Since my ban I've continued watching, but it's a lot more bothersome without having my account. I was logged in through Google, so maybe there's a way of logging into my YouTube account by not being logged into Google?

It's all ways worth checking you haven't spammed is someone is using your WiFi or you have malware

YouTube is wholly owned by google, you could try an email to their complaints department but there has to be something that has flagged the Ban, you mention that you were arguing with another member at the time of the ban, this could be related to the ban. also do you ever add links into a reply / comment to a video, as a lot of automatic systems will flag these as spam, especially those that link to sales sites, even those that are totally innocent.

We monitor similar things on our sites but any automation used is always checked by a human being [Or a certain Alien), before any action is taken. Companies such as google are more reliant on automatic systems, and also unfortunately less concerned about accidentally banning the wrong user

I rarely comment on YT videos and I stream there also on occasion..
I always found it best to just not comment because most people really don't care what you have to say and you will probably not change any minds with your comments.
But, that's just me...Everyone handles it differently....

Chips--how important is it for you to comment on YT? It's not really a place where you can have a back-and-forth discussion, and I see a lot of people comment just to ridicule the video. Can you still enjoy the videos without commenting? There are so many other sites where you can have a real discussion of an issue.

With 10,000 videos being uploaded daily, I don't think Google worries too much about someone being banned wrongly. Everything is automated.

    Right on RO...
In my opinion, it's a waste of time...Much better things to do...Watch the video, if you like it, give it a thumbs up and move on...

Oh man, don't give me such delicious straight lines like that! That one is almost too hard to resist.
