Does Microsoft ever ring you due to computer giving errors?

Hey, I was just wondering if Microsoft even rings you due to your computer giving off errors? My aunt recently gave me her computer as she wasn't very good with them and was not really using it, I have been clearing it and setting it up ready for my daughter to use for her school work this week. I had a call just now, saying it was Microsoft and that my computer is giving off errors. I was not sure if this was real, as I did send an error report. My wife said it is a scam but I think it may be real seeing as I was having a few problems. I looked the number up online and found this Scam Numbers UK but my caller was polite, English, and it was literally 10 minutes after I send the error report?

Shall I call them back do you think?

Thanks

Hey thanks for your reply.

Oh, well I feel stupid, I guess it was just a huge coincidence with the timing then! Unless this computer already has some hack on it?

Thanks again

It is better to be safe than sorry!
Even if your Aunt had contacted them, how would they know that you now have the computer, and even if your Aunt had a contract with them, they still wouldn't know!

You can expect one of those calls every few months. There are more than one scammers doing it. Also expect calls "from Social Security," "from Apple," and if you're over 65, "From Medicare."

I visited a friend last week, and she had 10 calls "from Social Security" in one day.
