    iPhone 4 activation

Okay this is totally unrelated to this forum (that's why it's in the chat room) and I don't want to register to some company that's going to send me e-mails for the rest of my life but here we go.
I had some issues with an old iPhone 4 that someone gave me (I only use it for music I am not connected to a cell service(I am locked into to koodo though)) so I factory reset it with iTunes but I did not know that you had to activate it, and to activate it you need a SIM from koodo... I googled it to the point where I thought the sever was going to crash but nothing... Please forgive is this is out of place.
Oh yeah: I tried many ways the internet said to try but this is getting crazy!
I have tried the emergency call trick...no potatoes
I have tried activating with iTunes...ditto
I just need this phone for music and nothing else so if I can get it to play music by installing windows or linux I don't care just want it working as it has been a major headache.

I haven't heard of needing a SIM card to activate it. However I'm not even sure if the newest version of iTunes is compatible with a 4. I would ask here: Apple iOS MacOS Help | Fix Mac iPhone iPad | Buying Tips | Mac-Forums

Maybe a jailbreak but I don't know that for sure because I've never done it. I'm not even sure if you will be able to jailbreak it due to the age. You might want to get an ipod touch or even just one of the players if all you need is an mp3 player.

Well then you are limited by what you can do with a device that hasn't been supported in 5.5 years.
