    GPU recomendation?

    Hello everyone, well this is kinda weird...

    I have actually on my PC an ZOTAC nVidia geForce 8600GT 1gb, i have a LCD screen with a max resolution of 1366x768 (16:9), i use to play games like Resident Evil 5 on max details but using a resolution of 1280x720, starting next year, will be released Mass Effect 2, and i've got the requiriments... 8800GT...

    Next i'd like to update my GPU, to something similar or more powerfull than the 8800GT
    Without touching the 9800 Series GPU, and without going to 200 Series.

    I've saw the 9400GT and 9500GT on sale, but i'm not really sure about these... Some people told me that 8800GT is almost like 9800GT, but here were i live (Argentina) buying a 9800GT is way simillar to buy the GTS 250.. But it's damn expensive... So i'd like to know wich one to buy in comparsion with the 8800GT.

    Thanks everyone :)
    (P.s. Sorry for my bad english)

    Yeah sometimes i think a lot on ATI graphics since are kinda... cheap
    a Zotac 9800GT costs around 165 dollars (For us argentinian people it costs 635 pesos argentinos, thats kinda much)
    the Zotac GTS 250 costs 188 dollars (720 pesos argentinos)

    and the same people that gave me those prices sells the Sapphire HD4670 1gb at 110 dollars. and the XFX HD4850 at 167 dollars...

    Still, its too much expensive. but the HD4670 is even cheap than the 9800GT, and more accesible for me, even talking about the price of the 8800GT that is almost the same (nVidia is still being more expensive)

    But i don't know about the performance of the HD4670 against a 8800 and 9800GT

    ok a 4670 is slower than a 8800 gt.... but..... a 4850, 4770, and a 4830 are all faster than a 8800 gt, and one of them should be about the same price.....
    where are you going to buy the new card from? and what is your max budget, not in US dollars but in your currency

    the 9800GT will wipe the floor with the HD4670 :)

    lol......, well in between the 8800 & GT200 there aint much.

    Nvidia....

    9800GTS

    9800GTX

    GTS250

    i think thats it..??

    as pizzaman suggested, you might well want to look at a low end ATI 5 series card for full DX11 support, the ''HD5750'' & the 9800GT are pretty evenly matched, but the ATI card has DX11 / SM 5.0 / & delivers far greater framerates @ a higher res than the Geforce card.

    Well, about prices the nVidia 9800GT is cheaper than the HD4850 from the guy who sells GPU's
    Ive got the 9800GT 1024mb 265bits GDDR3 164dollars (ZOTAC)
    and then the HD4850 1024mb 265bits GDDR3 167dollars (XFX)

    Talking about the HD5750 (1024mb 256bits GDDR5) costs around 195dollars, and here i have the ZOTAC GTS250 at 187 dollars, but more than 160-165 dollars costs too much here on my country. i will se what i will chose...

    Well i will work harder to see if i can get the 8800 from somewere or a 9800 if i get enought.

    What is more reccomended, the price range are almost similar...
    8800GT = Link to page
    9800GT = Link to page (XFX) - Link to page (ZOTAC) (Or i've got a ZOTAC 1gb from the GPU's seller)
    GTS250 = Link to page (XFX) - (Or i've got a ZOTAC 1gb from the GPU's seller)
