I had both my Gateway SX2803 Win 7 and the eMachine T3095 XP die
Happy New Year!
Both computers completely died; unbootable. Just black screens - not even the blue screen of death. I tried booting to DOS; no response. I tried booting with the recovery disk: no response. I finally decided that it must be an environmental source. It was too much of a coincidence for both to die simultaneously.
I unplugged everything, de-energized the beast, got out my contact cleaner and disassembled the machine. I cleaned every component connection - except the CPU. I checked all the jumpers... After reassembling the beast, I cleared the CMOS.
It booted up and I used key to start recovery.
I did the same thing to the eMachine and it is working fine.
It's worth the effort to study a manual for your motherboards. Taking pictures helps too.
Best wishes,
