Let's run windows 7 on very old hardware

I'll start specs and k6-2 ram 512mb GPU 16mb rage 128 motherboard Asus p5A

Not by me, but in this video someone manages to run Win7 on a Pentium 2 133MHz with as little as 96MB of RAM. Far from usable, but it does works:

It's certainly remarkable that Win7 is able to boot in such hardware.

I used to run Windows 7 on one old computer. Here are the specs:

As you can see this computer has hardware a little newer than yours. The oldest component is probably 21 years old.

Currently it is only running Windows XP Pro. I had Windows 7 on it for a few years but ran into a snag. The CPU is an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ which does not support SSE2. I discovered that starting in about 2019 Microsoft rolled out updates that assumed your CPU supported SSE2. If it didn't your computer crashed and would no longer boot into Windows 7. Each time it did I had to do a system restore and roll back to before that update.

Since your CPU is even older than mine you have to be careful about doing updates or you will face then same problem I did.

BTW, early this year I finally replaced the IDE/PATA hard drives with SATA ones. The ASUS motherboard is probably one of the first to be made with SATA support. When I first built this computer there weren't any SATA drives available.
