This is disturbing. I have been looking for a filter that will just fit on a "spot" for a fan where a fan is not installed.
Anyone know where I can find a filter that will fit on a 120mm fan "grill" NOT THE FAN itself. Everything I see just fits on fans.
Ladies stockings or even Speaker cabinet mesh can be cheap and surprisingly effective in limiting dust.
I made some 'ghetto filters' for my case and while it didn't stop everything (nature of my case design), it certainly reduced the amount of dust getting in.

I heard this and have thought about it, but it's for me AND a client. I hate to go to their house with nylons. They might think I'm a psycho.

Nate,
For the client - I would fit fans and a filter, as this is the only available option, you could leave the fans un-powered, if them running would disturb your airflow scheme, you always have the option to power them up if global warming takes effect

Over the years I've dealt with many PC systems in industrial use - and I can state that the cases shown in the article are relatively clean

One of the most amazing things I recall was not actually a pc but a remote electro-mechanical switch in an enclosure in Algeria. We knew there was a switch as the system was operating and the switch was shown on the drawings ...
.... We found it after removing about 18 inches of sand from the base of the enclosure
I spent 4 years in Algeria, mid-country, using and trying to keep running a lot of computers and electronics.
The dust and sand gets everywhere, and you don't want to know where that is.

I cannot defrag C:, nor can I perform a chkdsk C: /f on start up. I get dirty bit is set on the volume (0x89000015). I'm not sure what to check or what my next step should be. I hnave booted from my win 7 disc and did a repair but it did not help.
Ok I confess I'm a AMD guy, but I've ordered my first Intel mobo at a crazy discount ....which is how I do this hobby and why I've leaned strongly towards AMD for so long. So I bought the MSI P67A-GD80 (b3) see link: MSI USA ? Mainboard - P67A-GD80 (B3)
Now I'm shopping for ram and the CPU. Of...
For some reason everytime I plug in my HD I get a prompt to check it for errors. I clicked "check for errors" and now the name of the HD changed back to Local Disk (H), and I can't change it it then says "The volume label is not valid". So I did some thread browsing and concluded that the disk...
I was time constrained and antsy when my hp upgrade kit came. Did a dirty install, now want to start over. I was dumb and did not make 'recovery disks'. I do have the hp recovery directory copied to a separate hard drive now, after the upgrade. I also have a licensed full version of MS Office H&S,...
