YUCK! thats horrible!
And LOL at the PC with chip packets in it.
Kids at my school arent like that, they steal the ram and put it in their own PC's, and the PC admins wonder why its beeping at them LOL.
Worst I ever saw was a nest of insects in a notebook which had been used outdoors, they looked like a cross between a grasshopper and a prey-mantis, an adult had evidently laid a huge cocoon like egg just inside the case of the machine, and months later - when it hatched, the thing became clogged solid with hundreds of little green beggars that fried and died... and bunged everything up!
Took some very careful and extensive cleaning to get it working again, and it never smelled good afterwards!
Over the years I've dealt with many PC systems in industrial use - and I can state that the cases shown in the article are relatively clean
I can sympathise with Lee with his farming industry experiences - I've worked in Steel mills, paper mills, and sewage/waste plants and some will actually set a time limit of 3 months and replace the system - as it's more economic than building and operating a positive pressure computer room.
One of the most amazing things I recall was not actually a pc but a remote electro-mechanical switch in an enclosure in Algeria. We knew there was a switch as the system was operating and the switch was shown on the drawings ...
.... We found it after removing about 18 inches of sand from the base of the enclosure
This is disturbing. I have been looking for a filter that will just fit on a "spot" for a fan where a fan is not installed.
Anyone know where I can find a filter that will fit on a 120mm fan "grill" NOT THE FAN itself. Everything I see just fits on fans.
