Well uh, the 50% is on bonuses paid to banking execs. I somehow doubt anyone has a real problem with that. The other raise in incom taxes for normal people was not given a number but it can't possibly be 50%. Probably more like 5% or thereabouts...
more labour spin and mirrors.
the socialist govt. gave zillions to the banks to keep them afloat - and let the bankers keep bonuses - if they make the banks profitable, in their contracts as an incentive and thus enable the banks to pay back the govt.
now that they have made them profitable, they want to break the contract they made to look good to their socialist roots before the election in the next few months. they were told they could not do that legally, so they impose a 'one off' tax to confiscate the bonus anyhow. so much for trusting the socialist labour party, they give with one hand and take away with the other. they tried this class war stuff before, the politics of envy. if you work hard to better yourself and earn more, we must take it away and give it to someone else who hasn't bothered. enforced mediocrity.
they also soak the middle class with new taxes while keeping the burden off their traditional power base, all in the name of repaying the massive international borrowing they have done to pay for all their looney and ever changing programs that help no-one.
they realise they have little chance of winning the election, so they want to make sure they leave a right mess for the tories to straighten out, so then they can blame the tories for it all in the next elections in 5 years.
still not much mentioned about them cleaning up their own over-feeding at the public trough recently. one rule for them, another for us poor peasants. i see harriet harmon, still in power after her car crash, she is to be charged wiith talking on her mobile phone while driving, but not with causing an accident by it, or with leaving the scene of an accident. "i'm harriet harmon, you know where to reach me" she shouted as she drove off after hitting the parked cars. typical new labour, make a mess, and leave it for someone else to clean up.
While I strongly agree with most of what has been said, this thread breaks our forum rules on political discussion.
