Tandy 1000 SX with a 720k floppy, 640k, a 30 meg card drive & deskmate II software. CGA monitor.

2nd. PC was a 386, my first build, if memory serves I ran OS2 Warp on it. Skipped over the 286 jazz.

I typed in 100s of letter/#s to get it to play "Mary Had a little lamb" hooked up to the TV that was all I did with it.

Thumbs up for MS and IBM

As I was reading through this thread I was inspired to rummage around my basement to find my first PC... an IBM 600E circa 1998.

I managed to track it down, covered as it was by four years of dust, paint cans, body parts from stray hobos... y'know, the usual detritus we've all got in our cellars. Even found its old Windows 2000 installation disc!

After a thorough cleaning I fired it up, fully expecting at best to need a reinstall of the OS... at worst a loud pop and a quickly spreading fire, but to my surprise it powered right up! It even found my wireless router with the old Belkin card sticking out of its side.

To make a long story short, an sp4, a roll-up, and 90+ regular updates later (all successful 1st shot) it lives. She's a tough old bird. So here's a tip-of-the-hat to MS and IBM for a job well done.

A Celeron in 2001. I thought the 20GB hard drive is small compared to what I have now. But WOW 10mb Hard disk for $695? How much would that 10mb HD cost if adjusted for 2011?!?! It is amazing how fast tech evolves, now you can buy 20GB thumb drives for $10.
