10 Technologies We Were Promised But Never Got
-
I have no doubt that there will be a market for it, but personal transportation as we know it, will not change all that drastically in our lifetime at least.

>20 mpg :O 750 mile range running at 330 mph..... thats sexy hot

Cities Under Domes
Would that be awesome? I would like that. But things related to weater that I like, like "a White Christmas" won't happen anymore
Also, how small cities and villages are going to pay up that technology?
The Food Pill and the Algae Sandwich
I may have a negative view of things, but this "pill" will see the day pretty soon after the failure that was Coppenhague.
The Flying Car
A classic. I would love it. But first, we need an anti-gravity technology. I mean more than 10cm from the ground.
The Knowledge Pill
If that pill makes me learn Japanese in 10seconds, I'm all for it.
Nuclear Bombs for Demolition and Excavation
NO. JUST NO.
Man-Made Oceans
We have enough oceans. Start using them correctly.
Undersea Colonies
Now, that would be interresting. Population is growing and sooner or later we will need more space and then... We might end up in the sea.
The Self-Driving Car
That may be more intuitive than driving a nowaday car but... is it really needed?
The Videophone
Hum... we have it... well almost... What are Webcams for actually?
The Safe Cigarette
There are no safe cigarettes. The only safe one is not the smoke at all.

VideoPhones HAVE caught up, read posts before you post your own opinion. I am deaf/hardofhearing and I have a VideoPhone that is superior. You connect Ethernet into the VideoPhone and connect A/V into your big screen TV and talk face to face with other VideoPhone owners. Almost 99% of deaf world HAS a VideoPhone. So it HAS caught up to recognition.

Yes but the original context regarding the Videophone was about a wider and more commonplace usage.
ie "Every phone is a videophone", not niche markets.
No one is disputing the fact that the technology exists, but it's usage is still not 'widespread' as once envisioned.

Is a joke alluding to modern societies inability to look strangers in the eye and to connect on a personal level.

Videophone: first thing in morning, before shave, in bath, pretending to be at work etc. etc.
Sometimes it's a good idea not to be seen.
And frankly, even a "normal" phone is too intrusive for my taste -people seem to think that just because you're there they can break into your life.
As for mobile phones - JUST LEAVE ME ALONE- OK!

Airbot your sig is AMAZING..
kanye is retarted!

Well, I don't know you, but I do (respect and honesty thing)...
But I noticed that if I look into a stanger eye in Italy, they got scared...
maybe because I'm Mexican, and they think every latin american is a thief/drug dealer....
but I don't know

There is alot of truth to that. My girlfriend is Latin American. When she looks me in the eye, I get plenty scared.
