    HP Upgrade program

I got my laptop @ the end of July, I had been using windows 7 beta on a HP netbook and loved it so installed the beta on the laptop. I read a paper in the box about getting windows 7 free after release. I followed the rules and applied, Got an e-mail I was denied.

I got a better scanner for to copy the sales slip and try applying again. this time I was accepted. Well I got a email stating my tracking number and I checked out the link they provided, nothing, so I emailed asking why the tracking number came up like it didn't exist. no response 10 days later 2 upgrade DVD's are in my mail. Great only issue back to 32bit software.

2 days later I get an automated e-mail asking about my experience with the whole process. Well I had just taken 30MG of morphine and well shouldn't have been at the keyboard. I said "
why 32bit? this laptop is 64bit and yet you limit me and other users to 32
software. doesn't make sense and now I have a useless copy of windows 7 glad
    it was free."

Today I got a response back,

This is in response to your email regarding the Windows 7 Upgrade Program. We have recreated you a new order. Your new Order# 22205****5. You will not see the change for Windows 7 Premium 64-bit but it has been updated.

I never thought those email were read by anyone and I sure didn't think they would go as far as sending me a 64bit version after basicly being rude. I think HP just became the best in class for customer support.

Yes!! I have the 32bit version sitting here untouched. The part I found unreal was I responded to what I thought was one of those automatic response email things. I didn't respond to it with a clear head. I guess it was more like a rant to them wondering why they sell 64bit laptops and limit what OS they install. Turns out someone agreed with me over at HP and if it wasn't happening to me I wouldn't believe that they would send a 64bit OS out to a customer free after already fulfilling their end of the upgrade program.

I read about how customer service is so bad with TECH companies these days and thought well HP should earn some bonus points for going the extra mile and back to make a very small customer happy.

I sent them a new email with a very large sorry for my tone and that I didn't mean to be rude with them. Hope I don't move before they send the DVD's since I move on the 26th.

Just make sure you put in a change of address with the post office well before you actually move.

i recieved the upgrade as well from hp. I found them great.

I think they probably knew or found out they sent you out the wrong disks. Instead of sending you an email stating we 'stuffed up' they sent you an email to see your experiences. Hell of allot cheaper, there are people out there that don't even know the diff between 32 to 64. If you don't complain about the wrong disks you are happy with 32 because you didn't know the difference. very cleaver tactic

    enjoy

No my upgrade was only for 32bit version. I had just taken my meds and my brain wasn't clear at all. The email was asking if I was happy with the upgrade experience and that's when I for some reason that it a good idea to complain that I didn't get the 64bit I knew the computer could run. At least in my eyes the responce I gave about getting the 32bit wasn't nice. Then a email came back like 2 weeks later saying they were going to send me 64bit discs, which according to the upgrade program they don't have to do.

wwpauljd, what do you mean adds? I would have copied the email and posted it but there was to many places I would have to edit out numbers and such but there was no adds I have not spent a dime for the upgrade.
