If we talk about the software, you'll just right... I hate to install ALL app of HP just to print.. that's why I always download the generic ones

And what type of gadgets you're talking about?
LCD screens, card readers, music player aux port and the like. Most modern PC's desktop/laptops have all this all ready. No need for it on a printer. It's just a peeve of mine.

Why would it be a peeve of yours when there are many models without all that. There are alot of people who want lcd screens to view pic's before printing, card readers are also handy if you don't have one, music player aux port never saw one on a printer? But there are many $69 printers out there without the glitter.

The only time HP printers work reliably is when they're connected to a computer that is never shut down.

My Photosmart 3210 works perfectly as well, and I shut down each night too.

My HP works pretty good and seldom gives me any grief beyond the already mentioned ink cartridge costs. I think it is really sad that like sheep all other printer companies are following right along with the usery mentality and charging rediculous prices for replacement ink cartridges.
When you have to pay the price of a new printer for a set of ink cartridges it is too much to understand. very similar to kodak in years past, get a camera into peoples hands any way you can and then charge them rediculous prices for film.
I have not found an alternative so am stuck using a big percentage of my Social Security check each time I must have new cartridges for my printer.
Has anyone found an alternative to the big guys in the printer business? A company that makes a printer and does not charge half the national debt for replacement cartridges?

Can only say HP were brilliant when it came to sorting out my driver for 4180. Have to say I had to do some scary things like new .dll file and running a program wirtht eh word delete in it! But scaneer printer and photocopier are fine now, and usinf HP Premium Plus Paper I am very pleased with my photos.

Canon MP150 + MP170 are both great... Work flawlessly across my network of 7 computers, and doesn't go through ink like a beast either...
