Amazing how far Technology has come in the last 20 years when you really think about it.

Celeron 700MHz, 64MB of RAM & a 3dfx Voodoo3 video card. Bought in 2000 and came with gulp Windows Me. It now has 320MB of RAM, still working but... it's useless without drivers for the video card on a pirated Windows XP. Gonna blame nVidia for having bought 3dfx XD

Makes me feel so old to think those days... To come home from school, press the play button to start loading the game from a cassette, take a shower and have a snack, back to my room to do some homework, checking the display every now and then and finally hear that BEEP - the game was already loaded and ready to be played!

To think that, and then todays teenagers overclocking their machines to get it some milliseconds faster...

    Kari,

That brings a tear to my eyes

My first game was Monopoly on cassette tape. It took forever to load also.

So I would just just leave it loaded & turned on for days & days playing it.

what's even more amazing is that the average price for a high end system hasn't changed in 20 years, despite the exponential increase in technology. If the price had changed in proportion to a computer's capabilities, they'd be more expensive than a house now

Good point, I'm glad that hasn't happened.
