There's no chance of that they're all good friends around here and you only have to look at Ted's smileys to know when he's joking or being serious.

By the way my name is in my sig so no need to add it again

The real reason is because if you loo at 'professional' signature lines, you start with your name, then include your contact info, and possibly a logo.

Well, on an 'anonymous' forum such as this, contact info can be good...or bad. Moreover, most like to show off something - a link, a banner, an image, etc. - but it makes no sense to put such items after your name.

Consider it in this form - you post is a letter, which you sign off with closing and signature, and then ad a post scriptum with additional info. I pretty much follow that format as everything after my name is additional material that will most likely be irrelevant to the post I am writing and yet something that I want everyone who reads any of my posts to see.

    Does that help explain it?

Smashy. To return to your op.
If it is really bugging you, you can turn them off in your CP options. I do it automatically when I join a forum and only just realised, after a couple of days, that I needed to turn it on again to see what was troubling you!!
