Windows 7 build 7000 x86

Nothing like it. What I named above is what I have, plus an emergency wired network card, incase the motherboard suddenly dies (as it did on my Striker).

On that note, is it possible to get a hold of the newest build without torrenting it?

Hello HikerRemastered,

The Windows 7 RC version should be released in a few weeks if you wanted to wait for it instead. Other than that, it's only available in the torrents.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Windows 7 x86

Personally, I'd go with x86 as unless you have over 4GB of RAM it actually SLOWS down your computer...

I agree with everyone about 64-bit, go for it; but it'll like 8GB of RAM better if the mobo will handle it, DDR2 is way cheap right now.

Linux CENTOS 7 / various Windows OS'es and servers

another +1 "Ad Nauseam"

If you MUST have a 32 bit OS for some older apps you say you already have vmware so you can run the 32 bit OS under it.

I'm still using XP Pro for a "Minidisc" application that only runs on XP -- Sony won't supply any VISTA / W7 upgrade for it. This works just fine on XP under VMWARE.

Sometimes on Music gigs live recordings / demos I need a Minidisc recorder. Ipods just don't hack it for Live Recording of Uncompressed Music I'm afraid.

Also listening to very highly compressed MP3 music with hideous bud earphones isn't my way of enjoying music.

Minidisc might be "Dinosaur technology" but the quality can't be beaten --especially with a nice pair of BOSE Noise cancelling cans and you can still record in uncompressed WAV.

As for TV cards -- Hauppage is actively "Beta-ing" WINTV7 which works (a little) on X-64 W7. Works OK in VISTA X-64. Pinnacle also is developing stuff.

Most cards seem to work OK anyway with Windows Media Center (both w7 X-86 and X-64).

Cheers

Sevenx64 is good. I am using a wintv-hvr 850 usb hdtv adapter Hauppauge. Second day after install win 7 downloaded the upgraded drives and its worked great with media center. recorded a bb game today nothing goes wrong except KU lost.
