    Wow.

But as I said, completely original ideas are hard to come up with.

Hi if you want to start a thread, go out into the main page and on the left hand side there are a list of topics, click on the topic where you want to post or start a new thread, and if you look up near the top left, you will see a button NEW THREAD,
click on it and away you go, I hope you know what I mean

But not so hard that he spent 12 years working on a movie with a plot that I've read in three books and two movies.

Keep in mind the effort he put into this movie. Hell, he created a language. All 'enthusiasts' are going to be speaking Na'vi just like all the Star trekys speak Klingon.

Completely agree with you. Although, the talk parts of the film were a bit dull at times. I wen't and saw the 3-d version of the film and I must say that it is the best 3-d and animated movie I have ever seen. I hope the 3-d technology improves and that film makers use this movie as "the animated movie to beat" when make their movies.

    Rating:

    Animations - EPIC!
    3-d: Revolutionary!
Talking parts - If-ish but WHO CARES?! IT'S 3-D AND ALIENY!!!

It was the most incredible cinematic experience of my life - except for perhaps Tora, Tora, Tora - when it came out [30 yrs ago?]..

Regardless, the story line was nothing original.. so what ? Boy leaves home for job in foreign land, befriends and goes native, meets girl, turns on home team.. Sheesh, Ferngully and a dozen other movies have same story-line. Again, so what ! It's your typical all-american, everybody loves the underdog fighting the big bully ! Nothing new there either.

The integration of special effects, technology and fantasy was totally AWESOME. That's what I went to experience, and the 3D effects were VERY well done.
    'Nuff said.
