But you could already do that with MySpace and Facebook when Twitter was created, which is why I don't understand how it's become so popular.

well it seems the trend in social networks is that they kick out features to become more popular. myspace had pretty much everything, it fell to facebook who limited profile customization, twitter pretty much takes away everything but the updates.

Definitely the latter.. because I exercise my right to not read tweets nor participate in twitter

Also because I can't hear myself scream 'I'm on the train' with that other annoying mobile phone user in the background
