Most of the hard core Mac users are missing out on some of the interesting things that can be offered by Microsoft and Linux distro's. I find it more enjoyable to expand my horizons then becoming fitted on just one thing.

I heard that the iPad won't even run Office. If this is true it really is limited functionality. And the Apple influence has already impacted my life. Books from the publisher McMillan used to be $9.99 from Amazon. Thanks to Jobs and his market price controls I now have to pay $13 and $15 for a stupid novel. Oh well, back to the library for me. You know I can't help but wonder what the world would do if MS suddenly forced increased prices on an existing product. There would be Congressional hearings on monopolies and the European Union would sue.
No multi tasking...
(This was enough of a deal-breaker to me)
No USB
No support for Flash...
They can keep it.
Colrancher, some of the pictures on the MacWorld site show some form of writing and spread sheet programing, so it could be that iWorks in some form will be included.
Bumping.
Whoever watch this video (YouTube - Apple Introduces Revolutionary New Laptop With No Keyboard) especially the part with the Fanboy saying: "I'll buy anything that's shiny and made by apple", you might find it surprising (or not) that there are actually people who are exactly like that:
from Sight unseen, fans hear 'iPad' and think 'iWant' - Tech and gadgets- msnbc.com"If Apple sold groceries, I would buy groceries from them," says Matthew Rice, who works for pharmaceutical company Merck & Co.
Yum. $20 apples.
UGH.
WIN (real product, click picture to see):
This is a good (counter) article too: Top reasons to not buy (or buy) the iPad - Tech and gadgets- msnbc.com
My prediction is that this will be a HIT with apple fan boys, but ultimately a useless product.
NOTE: Just the iPad. I think (and hope) that the tablet market will kick off. I personally would LOVE to see a Linux tablet, preferably with the option to connect to a cellular carrier (of your choice).

I am more excited for the courier from microsoft!
Hi there
I think the sales of this device have actually been incredibly poor -No wonder it's already known as the "Idontwantwantit".
If you are going to make this type of device it should certainly have decent pen writing ability (such as note taking facilities and possibly for graphic applications) and a USB connection for being able to connect with other devices.
As others have said this device is just a sooper dooper oversized Iphone -- there doesn't seem to be anything this device can do that isn't already available on the latest generation of smart phones (others as well as the Iphone) and a lot more portable too.
Apple have dropped the ball on this one.
Cheers
jimbo
Ipad has no flash-meaning you cant access the full web and it dosnt support Multitasking
How the hell does apple think people will use it for business if you can only have one program running at a time!
