    Alienware M11x...

So, I'm in the neighborhood of getting a new laptop. I don't want to spend too much money on it, but enough to where I can play EVE Online with no issues. It'll be used for school, and running apps (Such as Bots for games).

I wanted to know if I can update Alienware hardware from NewEgg. Like RAM, HardDrives.. Or if I can add a 2nd hard drive.

I'm trying to spend about 800$ or so. I have 1800$, and I need a new laptop. The laptop will be moved around alot, and I'll use it for gaming, web development, programming, even VMWare OS's.

Can ANYONE help me out with this, and can someone suggest a laptop with these standards, for a cheaper price?

EVE Dominion doesn't take a lot of graphic power (though it does need a bit of CPU for big booms).

I suggest you check this site to: (CyberPower Inc. - UNLEASH THE POWER - Create the Custom Gaming PC and Laptop Computer of your dreams)

yeah i'd go with iBUYPOWER: High Performance Custom Gaming Computers and Notebooks or the CyberPower Inc. - UNLEASH THE POWER - Create the Custom Gaming PC and Laptop Computer of your dreams as mentioned above. they make good systems and cost a lot less than comparable alienware systems do. when you buy into alienware, voodoo, falcon and many of the other brands your buying into a label not necessarily a better system. it's best to know your options.

From looking at those bare minimum specs, I'd be paying more than I would for an Alienware. Plus, they actually look good. Those 2 websites, I've been directed towards before, and I can say that, they're very limited and about as spendy as Alienware. They're desktops might have more of a variety, but I'm looking for a decent laptop that'll have enough umpf to do run Photoshop CS4 + a game or two.

I think I'll get an Alienware M11x. Unless other people have a suggestion. I'm going to be buying it in a month.

Actually, those are NOT the base models you are seing there. Try customizing one. And those will EASILY run Photoshop.

For what you are wanting to, I would suggest plenty of RAM and a decent Quad to get the most out of your laptop for your current needs.

Graphics card will not need to be top end.

Alienware do look pretty, but TBH, you are going to be paying mostly for the name.

    Maybe something Like:
    Toshiba - Qosmio Laptop with Intel® Core™ i7 Processor - Omega Black - X505-Q870

And if your Spending $1800 Pull the Spinning Drive out & use the extra for a Solid state Drive.

SSD itself will make a huge difference, especially on a laptop.

I said 800$, not 1800$. o_o I don't need much space because I have 5 servers with 10TB of space in each, I need something that'll be durable, and will at least run EVE online at bare minimum specs.

Laptops are pointless for gaming, and to spend 800 for online gaming doesn't make sense. For that much a desktop is a very tempting proposition.

Just a side note: My Dell Latitude D600 can run Photoshop CS4 easy (i've tested), and by looking at EVE Online's system requirements, the only thing you'd need upgraded is the RAM and graphics card (though upgrading graphics is impossible), and it's $300 average...
So you don't need to go full out $1000+ for a decent laptop that will do what you need to do.

Here's one that might fit the job: Acer Aspire
