    School uses laptop webcams to spy on students

    Neowin.net said:
    For many students, renting laptops from schools to use is an effective and inexpensive way to get work done. Even some universities offer the same deal, but no student ever stops to ask, what cost do the laptops truly come at? For those enrolled in schools around the Lower Merion High School district, it may very well cost you almost all of your privacy.

    Students issued laptops in the aforementioned district were given computers that could have their webcams remotely activated at the will of the school administrators..
    Silly of me, forgot this;

    Read the rest here.

    This is sick. Schools need to know when to keep their noses out of students business.

    Easy fix - put a piece of Duct Tape over the webcam.

    Yeah, but they were bringing laptops home, and webcams were being turned on while they were at home.

    Oh added the link to the article (been so long since I posted articles I completely forgot!).

    Saw this on Gizmodo.com

    This is a sad example of grown adults looking for child porn and failing miserably. I hope they get thrown in jail for a while.

    I agree...this is sick. There doesn't seem to be a such thing as privacy anymore. Big Brother is always watching.

    this is a sad abuse by the schools administration. i read about it this morning. the amazing part is that the school involved is populated with students from the mail line area a part of town popular with lawyers. it's no suprise this is going to court what did the department of education think would happen.
