Sweet Tooth Solution
Last year, when I went for a medical exam, i weighed 239 lbs. The doctor recommended that I use an artificial sweetener, instead of sugar. When I complained that I hated artificial sweeteners, she recommended trying Splenda. Shopping online, I found both Splenda and a liquid version that is called Splendex. I ordered the latter, and have been using it in everything, except items that doesn't typically have a version sweetened with this, which is most things in the store. So, even though I have not used a spoon full of sugar since, I still get a lot of sugar through other items.
I just returned from the doctor's office, and I weighed 203 lbs, so it did get rid of 36 lbs fairly easily. Now if I could get rid of another 20-30 lbs by next year, I would feel pretty good. But, to do that, I will need to find a source for other foods sweetened with Splenda/Splendex or Stevia, which isn't too bad either, or start making more things at home, but I have never cared too much for cooking.
It's a shame that when one does find a sugarless product, it is usually signifcantly more expensive that a sugar sweetened one. About the only thing other than sweetening coffee that I have used this for, is to make homemade ice cream. While I can't say that it equals those bought at the store, it isn't bad. I think that most of the difference is due to my recipe, rather than the sweetener.
I wish that I knew of other good recipes that didn't involve too much preparation, because I would like to keep this weight trend going.
