Make a hackintosh build. Its fun to tinker and try to get it to work. Pay for the disc also and it should be legit. All Mac is, is a polished up Linux "to me in my thought" with severe restrictions. Just good because of Final cut for video editors but not everyone does that. Theres other good stuff for it though.
Ahem I voted for it fyi.

You learn a lot more about the OS when you do a hackintosh as well. Teaches you how to fix problems, how to do more advanced things, etc.

I wouldn't mind being able to run MacOS in VM actually.

And yeah Apple did in about 18 months what Linux has not been able to do in 15 years. Create a usable desktop micro Unix based OS and make it a commercially viable platform. Gotta give them props for that.

They also had money to do it all.

Well certainly IBM should and probably even Redhat, and SuSE actually... But they don't seem to want to think very much outside the box wrt desktops. Still focussed on the server end of things.

It WILL take some company some serious concerted effort to make it happen that's for sure.

They're doing what they can within the current desktop frameworks. But I mean dump kde and gnome and all the others. Possibly even dump X completely. Butild a new GUI that is modern, new toolkit for it and redo all common tools.

Make a clean break, a new start on a modern UI, exactly like Apple did. Gnome is an ancient *******ization of the old mac UI and KDE is an old *******ization of the Window XP UI. I use them every day and it's just kind of pathetic. Things need to move WAY forward, even the latest distros, other than pretty backgrouns are looking more dated every day.

But as you said, it will take a lot of money and concerted effort to do :)

Is it really possible to build a hakintosh ? I think that it is just an unben legend. I tried severel times, it installed fine, booted up nicely, and then said that a file ( I cant remember what) is missing. I searched for it , but google could not say anything about that file. I concluded that the file was never there, like the dragons and yeatis and pegasases and the Hogwarts.
