    My next RIG

    Hello everyone!!
Well... It's been 2 years since i bought my actual computer (all pieces went bought separately and assembled by me, an 18yo tech freak XD)

New technologies arrived at the market in these 2 years, and now, i'm planning to say goodbye to my lovely AMD 5000+...

Since im from Argentina, all the ''electronic and PC pieces'' cost like hell because ''Political BULL****'', i don't work but i manage to get some money so...

My plans are to... replace some parts of my pc with newer ones...
    This are my plans...

Actually, i have 2 HD WDC of 160gb each, im planning to buy a newer one, WDCB of 500gb and replace of those HD.

Next... Change my motherboard... I have actually an ECS GeForce 7050M-M v2 (AM2+ Ready) to a ECS A780GMA S. AM2+ (AM3 Ready) with PCI-Express 2.0 compilant (great for my actual GTS250 runnin on PCI-E 1.0, since i got very happy with this ECS im going to buy that one...

Laters... upgrade my piece of crap Codegen 500w PSU to an Thermalthake 600w Purepower PSU.

And to get it over with... an Niiice and amazing... AMD Athlon II X4 620 AM3
(and possible 2gb of extra ram)

    What do you guys think...??

Things are really changing right now. I would look for a AM3 socket motherboard that supports DDR3 memory, USB3 and Sata3. Some of the new boards offer USB3 and Sata3 with add on chips but AMD just anounced a new chipset 890GX and maybe some more to follow.

Do some research and see if you find something you like with these updated feactures.

Yeah but DDR3 here... is... expensive like hell :S
By luck i can afford to a DDR2 1066 with that motherboard, so i just thing of getting some good RAM modules..

I realize that cost is a big concern and you do what you have to do. Just wanted to let you know what new technology is available and you need to decide where is the best bang for the buck. Good luck with the upgrades.

    1) The CPU is not built for gaming - the 620 has no L3 cache and this will whack performance.

    2) The motherboard is a last option. You really should get an AM3 socket for gaming with DDR3 memory. I went for an AM2+ board for my work PC and I have DDR2 memory. I also didn't have time to get an AM3 board that supports DDR2. Anyway, AM3 socket is the way to go for gaming.

    3) A quality PSU would be a Corsair HX 650. I wouldn't choose Thermaltake.

Yes it might be expensive, but a good quality PC will last for a while.
