    something i hate

i was perusing the forum just looking for some thread topics that might interest me. i came across one where the op was asking for suggestions for a product (trying to leave things vague to protect identities). anyway, people chimed in and gave their input. pretty much after each input from someone, the op would snap back something like: "well this product doesn't support this." or, "yeah, but i'm looking for this and the product you'r suggesting doesn't do it." etc., etc.

what was particularly annoying about the thread was that the op seemed to be (quite) knowledgeable about the very subject he was seeking input on! knowledgeable enough that the op had taken his or her own time to contact reps for each product of interest. this person seemed to be well equipped at finding the necessary information on the internet yet had the audacity to treat those who gave input like they were supposed to do all the work and research for the op!

that sucks! i'm sorry. it really does! crap like that tends to make me not ever respond to posts like that. and said posts seem to be in the majority with the graphic cards section: "ati or nvidia--help me decide." nope, sorry, no-can-do! do some reading yourself first, and if you have unanswered questions, post a comment.

i'm all for people seeking suggestions from others but when people reply with their suggestionss, simply thank them for the time they took to respond. no need to snap back with unneccessary quips about the suggestion not meeting your needs and such.

There are a vast array of apt words that can be utilized to describe people like this.

    None of them are flattering

Unfortunately, there a lot of people who find this to be a completely alien concept.

For some, the only time you see the words 'thank and 'you' is when they get the answer they want.

Similarly unflattering words can be applied to them as well

Some people are just born rude, others learn as they grow.

Over 60 000 members, luckily only a few like he / she you describe.

The truth is every now and then you meet them. You try to help, use your own time to try to find a solution, and the response is not so friendly. I'm still feeling bad because of this, and it was already a month ago.

Luckily, most of the members here are friendly. The Seven Forums is a remarkable place where you can mostly feel good, feel you are among the friends.

lol, I tend to come across more of the 'now' rather than 'then'...

Mind you, it is true that that are quite a few that are appreciative.

Unfortunately encountering the negative tend to overshadow the memory of the positive ones at times

i have found a lot of posters have no idea how to search for the particular item or driver they require , something as simple as visiting the manufacturers website is alien to a few posters !

@kari: i read that and that really sucked!
i guess fortunately for me, it wasn't a particular thread that i was involved in personally. i was looking around to see where i could input my two-cents and found a post--not as bad as the one you were involved in--but one nonetheless, that just got me a little ticked!

I have seen some arrogance and some of the deception that mpcrcsc mentioned; but it is by far the minority. Most of the time those seeking help post their thanks and appreciation even when the suggestions didn't work. I just ignore the narcissists.

When I see people becoming aggressive or uncooperative, I just unsubscribe to the thread. No need trying to help someone who thinks he knows better. Btw: I never noticed such behavior by the ladies. They always seem to be very grateful.
