I'm seriously considering Nikon’s D700. Though I've been shooting since 1982, really since 1980, I had a Canon system which I sold off in 19890 and didn't get back into photography until 2001, when I purchased my current Nikon System. My basic Nikon lenses are....

    70-300 AF 70-300 ED
    80-200 mm ED 2.8
    AF-S 24-85 mm ED 3.5-4.5 G
    AF-S 17-35 mm ED 2.8D
    AF-S 28-70mm ED 2.8
    AF 50mm 1.8D

I mainly shoot B&W now, though I do like experimenting with both color and B&W in Photoshop. It's time to make the digital move now that film is becoming harder to find and get processed, I don't do my own processing for various reasons, and scanning film is very time consuming. In short, it's easier to deal with pure digital files nowadays, especially since digital photography has come a long way.

Now i understand better your choice for a full frame...D700 fit perfectly those AF-s lenses system. Plus those new AF-g lenses are more fragile than ever even if they're made for digital purposes, i rather keep AF-S 17-35 mm ED 2.8D ,AF-S 28-70mm ED 2.8 those as for a beginning.

    I've been Nikonist for a long time either. Working mainly with the F90 & the X one...and F100 one...loved my FE-2.
i've used the D80 with the 18-70 AF-s also and my analog AF-d lenses mounted on too.
The result was quite stunning with AF-d short lenses.

I love photography but sometimes in life you have to broke yourself. I did it.
I've sold all my Nikon bodies, lenses and gears last year...

And surely when better times will comes again, will head on for a full frame digital, as D700 's coming an insterresting choice and back too, an F100 body. I better know now which lenses are the one i want to shoot with.

    Nice Graphics on your website....!

That's the last shot i did with the D80...

Thanks. Nice shot there. I like B&W abstract. My avatar is one of my photos :)

My Nikon film bodies are an F100 and F5. I mainly shoot B&W or slide film. Though I haven't updated my site in a while the shutter bug is calling me so I'll be shooting some B&W here soon. Looking to do some abstract stuff so...

    Thanks for checking my site.

I shoot some sports and models. I get paid but don't do it for a living, yet.

Current Equipment is a Canon 40D and a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. I did own a Canon 50mm f/1.4 and a Canon 28-135IS lenses but sold them since I hardly used them after I got the Tamron. The 50mm was super sharp though, so I do miss having it but if I need one I can borrow my friends copy who lives a couple of blocks away from me.

I've mainly shot either in B&W....since i'd got the digital i was amaze by color.

I'm also graphics & abstracts photography, and street shooting most of the time.

I only own now a pocket sized "Ricoh GR1s Date" (28mm f:2,8) as analog & and a small digital Sony Exmor, 4.3/3.2 frame -10 m/pix.

    another D80 shot:

I shoot for fun but I take it seriously. I have a Minolta Maxxum 7D and a Sony Alpha A700. I like to carry a camera as much as possible. You never know when a shot will present itself. I've posted some of my favorites here.. Armitage Digital Photography

I have other subjects in my gallery, I'm using a Panasonic FZ18 camera (praise RAW) but saving up for a DSLR :)

Hmm since this is somewhat a photo thread. Anyone know of any good photography forums? Preferably for 35mm film? It's been about 10yrs since I was out of loop and want to get back into it.

Syg...I'm really digging the B&W's! Also, out of curiousity...I'm looking around for a film scanner and was wondering how much your nikon coolscan cost you?

    Thanks synii78.

I paid $1500 (US) for my Nikon Coolscan 4000ED it back in 2003. Nikon since replaced it with the Coolscan 5000.

Canon also sold something similar to Nikon's Coolscans called Canoscans - Support - Film Scanner - CanoScan FS4000US - Canon USA Consumer Products

I just did a Google search for both the Nikon and Canon scanners and found that they are currently unavailable. However a review of Nikon's website only shows them having the Nikon Coolscan 9000ED, which, if you can find, is going for around $2000 (US).

I suspect that these will become obsolete as more and more people are going to digital cameras. However flatbed type film scanners are readily available, though the film scanning quality isn't up to the dedicated film scanners quality.

These are pretty good sites with lots of people shooting both digital and film.
