The maximum number of dots you will see is 11 (in the current system).

Reputation

-99 to 0
0 to 99
100 to 199
200 to 299
300 to 399
400 to 499

Once you hit 500, you will start gaining bright green dots on top of the 5 dark dots but it takes twice as much to gain a bright green dot.

500 to 699
700 to 899
900 to 1099
1100 to 1299
1300 to 1499
1500 and up

I have another question. When someone gives you +rep why do some show as a grey square and not green (in your profile page)?

Is it that they're just guests?

You have to make at least one post to receive any rep power points, maybe the person who gave you rep has not made a post yet.

Just had a look at the person who gave the rep and they have 0 posts.

Also I notice sometimes that the scales are missing and I cant give rep. Does that mean theyve been given enough rep in a time period before they can receive more?

Green Harddrives
It is said that these drives use less electricity, so I assume that they must also run cooler...yes? If so, how much. Normally, I don't care about saving power, but if I get one of these, it will go into an external enclosure, which tends to run a little hotter.
