I'm an Electrician working in a Air-conditioned Workshop repairing Power Tools of all sorts

I do have access to a computer (running XP, yuck) at work and when the boss is away I spend allot more time then I should be, reading Mail and Posting on these Forums. I also tend to have a beer or two most afternoons so you might say I have it fairly easy most of the time

I'm a long time IT technician of 30+ years but in the last 5 years had some time out of the industry to work in Hospitality , Bar/Duty manager for a large international hotel group's local site, and ran my own local pub, (too much work !).
With the downturn in the industry am now back with what I used to do - IT - slowly regaining contacts and picking up work where I can...

I have been a self employed goldsmith for the past 20 years. I make custom handcrafted jewelry and do jewelry repairs for half a dozen jewelry stores in Maine and New Hampshire. Computers are more of a hobby for me although I do do some graphics work to make sure my clients and I are on the same page with complicated pieces. LOL, been thinking I should start a help desk as all my friends call me whenever they have a problem and a couple of them have suggested it. I remind them (tongue in cheek) that if it became a business I would have to start charging them for fixing their computers and then they're not so hot on the idea.

Now, *that* is a job! Beer on the job? You can't get much better than that....unless, possibly, being a classy gigolo....

The good thing is that even though you've been gone getting back in is not nearly as hard as it was to get your foot in the door. The hardest part, I would think, would be keeping up with the technology - but you're here, soI suppose that is not a problem for you....

Kewl, I have a friend who is a jeweler by trade and he went to Colorado for Gun Smithing - now he does both, and is loving life.

Interestingly enough, a see a few of you actually advertising your position / vocation or former position / vocation. Never would have paid attention to that otherwise, were it not for this thread....

Well I'm retired, 65 year old granny, so I can sit here all day playing with these machines we love to hate, never touched one until September 1998, which was Windows 98, never did go up to SE edition, then had WinME which is still in use, XP and now Vista. I'm trying to catch up

As for jobs I've had a few of them, various types

I'm currently working for a drugs and alcohol charity. I deal with the paperwork and database for all the drug tests and alcohol interventions done in the police station. On a good day I do this for a few hours and spend the rest of the time on the internet, at least I did until the new team leader started

In september I plan to go back to uni to start my MSc Forensic Psychology course so the money from this job will fund that, if i dont spend it on my soon to be built i7 system.

I'm 7 years retired from a 35 year career at our national airline as a Customer Service Manager which took me to just about every department, country, location, whatever, Miss the interesting experiences & people, many if whom were well-known personalities and film stars etc., don't miss the fights that I used to have with irate passengers over cancelled flights...."what part of "Act Of God" don't you understand Madam? (& I use that last term very loosely)"...etc. etc.
