Of course we did. Guys like Hitler naming the Telephone "Fernsprecher" didn't fool anyone. Not only that, but once we invent something, we patent it so we can't use it. Now that's Innovatin' with a capital eye!what makes you think it was concieved in the us? April fools day is mentioned in The Canterbury tales, which is definitely english thank you very much, and i believe written before america was even conceived.... (i may be wrong on this, im not up on my american history and its late, and i cant be bothered to check)

Television - John Logie Baird -Scottish
The Telescope - Gallileo - Italian
The Lawn Mower - Edwin Budding - English
The Steam Locomotive - Robert Stephenson -British (scottish i think)

They do say Coca Cola reinvented Christmas as we know it today and I think they're an American company, not sure what they make.
