Flame war: The great Windows 7 debate
Not a day goes by in which InfoWorld fails to receive a flaming comment or e-mail attacking InfoWorld's Enterprise Desktop blogger Randall C. Kennedy and his recent analysis of the pre-beta version of Windows 7. As time goes on, it gets more personal. Recently, I received this little gem: "Randall C. Kennedy is a jaded, personally hurt, pathological liar who only does a disservice to your Web site."

Hi Smarty
Because this is such a civilized and well run forum and we don't have any flame wars, I just thought we might share in someone else's LOL

Well. I plowed through it best I could. Apart from two learned men arguing like a couple of kids, I could not see anything in it where Howerda postively disputed Kennedy's findings about 7.
There have been several more benchmarks since then, all confirming that this release does not outshine Vista or XP in any particular fashion. The point which was not emphasised enough, is that it is ludicrous to benchmark a two year mature OS with a release which has not yet even reached Beta stage.
My own immature and inexperienced comparisons, in an earlier post on this site, concluded the same thing. In fact, with my customised and well tuned Vista, I was able to produce, in several instances, better performance.
But I would not be so bold as to slam Windows 7, at least one year before it's final, and , hopefully, mature release.
