Linux CENTOS 7 / various Windows OS'es and servers

Great idea.

I think my favourite was Windows 2000 but I really did like Windows 95. I was interested of course in windows 3.1 but this was about the time IBM were tinkering around with their "competing" prooduct OS/2 which I preferred - both from a users point of view and technically it was a superior product.

So my vote (Just) goes to Windows 2000.

(Both W95 and W2K run fine as VM's on W7 BTW) .

Cheers

Don't you remember...

Microsoft Bob was a Microsoft software product, released in March 1995, which provided a new, nontechnical interface to desktop computing operations. Despite its ambitious nature, Bob was one of Microsoft's more visible product failures. Microsoft's Steve Ballmer named Bob as "one project we had undertaken ... where we decided that we have not succeeded and let's stop"

I googled it. It looked like a good idea. I should let my grandpa know about it. He turned on the computer for the first time yesterday

VISTA !!!

I had no problems what-so-ever adjusting to it... and besides, I like the extra security (UAC)... it's saved me quite a few times.

I do my everyday browsing (work) in a "standard user" account and use my "administrtor" account for only installing and un-installing and I like the idea of having to use a password to effect any changes to my system.

What is your favorite version of Windows?
For the longest time, I said XP was my favorite, but now I think it's pretty dated. Nowadays I'd say Windows 7 is easily my favorite (though there are still some XP features I miss in Windows 7). I'm currently using Windows 8.1 (but I still do use 7) and I can honestly say that I really don't like...
