I think I don't need a computer at all.

I have never considered a computer a matter of "need", and unless a person is using one for business, few people really need one. It is a matter of want, not need.
I beg to differ there, I need one for keeping account of the income and expenditure but for the main part being able to order my groceries for delivery plus other purchases.
Oh yes and getting some bills cheaper for having online billing instead of paper bills, that's a big plus these days.

Those things are a matter of business. Business is not something just performed to earn a dollar, but also managing it.

I beg to differ, the only reason I'm in business is to earn a dollar.

Does not earning a dollar also mean managing it? If not, I fail to understand your business methods.

During a period last year where I had a computer, but didn't actually 'need' one, I thought going without it would be hard, but do-able. Then the thing broke. I was without my computer for two days and realised how much I actually rely on it. I would be sitting there saying "I'll just check my em... oh I can't. I'll watch... oh I can't. I'll play... oh I can't. I'll chat to... oh I can't".

I was shocked how much I actually used the computer for even though I didn't actually need to. Now? Well, now I'm doing a degree in web design so I think I can safely say it would be harder to do without my little machine-y. Good thing or bad thing? Just inevitability Mr Anderson.

    To quote the iPhone commercials:
    There's an app for that.

Excuse me but in this household it's a matter of survival certainly not business or earning a dollar, or £ as the case may be.

But I don't own an iPhone or have any need for one or the money to buy one.

I agree. I don't subscribe to a newspaper, for example. The internet is my news source - and my way to keep of with and communicate with my grandchildren who are all at least two days from us.
