For $499 you can get Apple's iPad, a power adapter, a cable for connecting to a computer and not much else — other than an overwhelming urge to spend at least $200 more.

    Interesting article. Thanks for that.

It will be interesting to see whether, now this sort of news has been released, whether sellers of the iPad will do 'combo packs' to gain more sales. Getting protectors certainly seems like everyone's main concern, so why not offer it for, say, half price when initially purchased? I'm glad I'm not currently tempted to buy one of these; I will wait to see what happens over the coming year.

in fairness... i bought a Sony PSP the day they were released, i got the console, a power adapter, and a very small memory card which was only fit for saving games, cost me £300 (about 600USD at the time) not even a USB lead for transferring music and video's, which was its main selling point.

2 months later, for the same price, you could get a "combi-pack" with cases, screen cleaners, USB and a game for only £20 more.

i wouldnt be suprised if you see something similar offered with the Ipad after a few months.
then again... this is Apple we're talking about

I think it's a waste of good money. Too bulky to carry around and looks ridiculous anyway. I will pass on this so called advancement....

Don't want to create another topic about the iPad, so might as well add this to here

Israel has banned imports of Apple Inc.'s hottest new product, the iPad, citing concerns the powerful gadget consumes too much capacity on wireless networks and could disrupt other devices. [....] The ban prevents anyone — even tourists — from bringing iPads into Israel until officials certify that they comply with local transmitter standards
