Well ... in the movie, before he was assimilated, Shrek called him Donkey or Ass.



So being as Donkeys can be "mule headed", "Only a true friend would be that truly honest" to call Donkey a Mule. After all, Donkey has thick skin!

No but I have four Donkey friends, one Jenny and three jacks and one Mule called Topsy who's not quite sure! I was with them on Monday morning and they would be unfased by any Ogre! And BTW although a donkey is "thick skinned" his coat is not waterproof like most of his equine cousins. So if you meet a donkey in the rain, share your umbrella with him to make a friend

You definitely must be missing something there John because if you look at Robert's avatar Donkeys ears do move up and down, they aren't flapping so the movement isn't continuous but every few seconds they will move down then after a few more seconds they will move back up.
