Dog Vs Cat.....
Was just sat here and noticed the dog sprint across the garden, and this was why...
...not quite sure why as she's come across them before is never quite sure what to do apart from freeze up. :)

my next door (we share an old farm mews converted into three adjoining houses, i'm on one end) neighbour's cat used to do that from the 6ft. breezeblock wall at the edge of my yard until i got Millie and she did a six foot standing high jump and managed to tweak a few hairs out of kittynextdoor's tail. prior to that kittynextdoor used to come in my yard from next door, till one day after returning from dog walking, he decided to be bold and jumped into the yard as we headed thru the front door. Millie turned, and in about half a second got to the cat before it could even turn around and try to flee. she rubbed it's nose into the grass but dropped it on command and startled green kittynextdoor never came in the yard again. it does saunter past them outside the front fence as Blue and Mille bark threateningly, but it is secure in the knowledge they won't (note i do not say "can't") jump over the 4ft fence. some day kittynextdoor will lose the last of it's nine.
before i got millie kittynextdoor tried to commit suicide by jumping off the 6ft. block wall onto and thru my open bathroom window. i was typing at the computer, glanced out the bedroom door and saw the cat lying on the floor at the head of the stairs licking it's whotsit. blue was on the bed behind me and did not see it. i jumped up, slammed the bedroom door behind me and chased startled kitty downstairs where i managed to open the front door for it to run out. went back up where blue was still on the bed wondering why his nutty master had gone nuts.
p.s. - a greyhound can get up to 45mph, and do it in two strides. one also held the dog high jump and long jump record for a number of years.
That's one lucky cat eh. To the left of us is a rabbit, there's actually another two directly opposite in that garden (the size of Hares too), but she has never seen them. Well the one next door torments the dog, in a similar way to the cat teasing yours, and the dog will bolt up and down the side of the fence as the rabbit does, and it will sit on top of it's hutch right next to the fence and stares directly at her lol, because it just knows she can't at him, but she still seems to think that one day she'll be able to.
one of the popular definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over and over in the hope that next time the result will be different. they obviously didn't have a dog. :)
