I hate to say it, but the Red Wings are a thorn in my hockey loving side.
Never liked them, even when they weren't winning it all the time.

    Chicago, all the way.

I've been a Wings fan since I was about 5 years old. Same with the Pistons, and Pittsburgh Steelers. I live about 20 minutes away from Joe Lois arena, and attend at least one playoff game a year. This is their 19th year in a row making the playoffs. Pretty incredible.

If I had to choose a second favorite hockey team, it would be the BlackHawks though. They have the coolest looking uniforms in the N.H.L. I've always liked them, all the way back to the Stan Mikita days. And of course, Chris Chelios.

I really got into them in the 90's. I used to work for Gary Suter's dad. It was fun....I finally had someone to talk hockey with.
The landscape has changed in hockey over the last 10 years or so, so it's not like it's the "same" Wings team, so it's not so bad. But I still gotta pull for the Hawks.
And I agree, their uniforms/jerseys look awesome.

True. The Wings have had a changing of the guard. It used to be Stevie Y, Brendan Shannihan, and Sergei Federov who dominated. Now it's Nick Lidstrom, Pavel Datsuk, and Zetterburg [you can throw Franzen in there too]. As far as the netminders go, it went from Vernon, to Hasek, to Ozzy, and now our rookie Jimmy Howard. Speaking of Howard, what do you think of that rook? Does he deserve rookie of the year you think?

I don't really know. He's done enough to at least be in the talk, of course. And no reason to complain if he won. Seems all anyone talks about is his age, that he's a 26yr old rookie.

I'd put my money on Tyler Myers from Buffalo. He seems to be the favorite.

Agreed. But if the Wings win Lord Stanley's cup this year, Howard will be a shew in for sure.

I couldn't believe they blew game 7 at home last year against the Penguins. Detroit should have won the cup last year.

He's had one helluva' series against Phoenix so far. Definately a vital player for the Wings.

He was awesome in GAME 2. Scoring the game winning goal. Historically, the Wings have had a great number of non-star players step up big-time for them in the playoffs. Whether it's Brian Rafalski, Darren Helm, Dan Cleary, or Valtteri Filppula. Their "no-name" guys are the reason they have been so effective come playoff time over the years.

Yeah, hockey fan here as well. I live about 20 minutes outside of Detroit. I've lived in Michigan for all my 35 years. So, naturally a Red Wings fan.
