    Folding At Home

    Anyone use/heard of this?

Sounds like a good cause to me, and it would give my computer something to do while I am busy.

I used to fold at Tech Support Forum and it is a good cause,it helps to support medical research.
I don't know if they have improved their software but it used to be flaky and caused problems and that is why i stopped.

As computers became more and more powerful, my power bills kept going up and up and up. For this reason, i turn off my computers when I am not using them.

I use it on several machines. If you want to play with it, go to the high performance beta software. There is software for 32 and 64 bit and even GPU's.

Be aware that it can run your CPU at up to 100% and it may cause some software to run slower even though it is not intended to. It is intended to replace the 'System Idle Process', and make use of 'unused' processor cycles. It will cause your system temperatures to rise.

But it's a good cause, and I run a few clients at work where I am allowed to and the machines are on 24/7 anyway. And I run a few clients at home. I have been participating for quite a while.

Thanks for all the info guys.

I think I will pass on installing it for now, my computer is enough of a pain.
