Well for me, I have a full time job and have been working professionally for 13 years. It takes me some time to save up my pennies after mortgages, car payments, insurance, groceries, gas, daycare, etc. And my wife works full time as well...so that helps cover the bills.

    $10,578
Which is why it's not wise to add up the totals. It hurts a lot less when kept as piecemeal amounts:)

It's also a matter of priorities. A high performance machine is worth more to some people than others.
    Very true.

Going without certain things and not having any kids also helps. Having an understanding and tolerant girlfriend is also beneficial.

For the system in my specs...it cost me $685 to build it originally, but I have upgraded the mobo, CPU and graphics card since then. My guess would be around $1300...with more money going into it this week.

$45 USD for my entire system. That $55 going to a gigabyte of RAM. The rest was free.

Currently working on a system that might run me about ~$2000 USD if I ever get the rest of the money I need. :|
