Monthly paid employees and Leap Years - SCAM

Hi all
been discussing the relative merits of Contract vs "Permie" with colleagues.

It seems to me that if you are a "Permie" then in a Leap year you are working an EXTRA DAY for free - since salaries are based on YEARLY pay divided by 12.

(I know in the US Salaries are often paid out TWICE a month but the same principle applies).

Now if you are a contractor and submit time sheets weekly or even monthly you are paid normally on the number of hours in that period worked or (- although it's not a good idea but a lot of US firms try this one on because they don't have to pay overtime) the number of DAYS worked.

So when Feb 29 occurs it's an extra day for "permies" but not contractors.

Take say 90 million working people in the US - all putting in a FREE DAY.

Nice bosses bonanza.
