Those specs are extremely good compared to our computers. A little command prompt work found the system specs...

128mb RAM.
Pentium 3 550mhz (Single core)
16Mb onboard AGP graphics.
Unknown sound card; No drivers
No USB support
No onboard hard drive, all 76 computers use the school's server, with only 200 gigabytes of hard drive space on it.

Try making PowerPoints with that.

The schools are not there to cater to the Students wishes/needs as far as PC equipment goes...
Be glad they even provide them for learning.

My school has computer applications as a core subject. We have to do advanced PowerPoints with a lot of custom animation, as well as working with large video and sound files. For us, better equipment is a necessity.
