I would further point out that Microsoft is dropping support for XP which accounts for more than 50% of the os usage and that leaves Microsoft with active/supported usage of 35.51%.....this is moving backwards you have to admit. You can't count those XP users as current Microsoft supporters as Microsoft is leaving them behind and even writing software that is NOT compatible with this OS (Thinking IE-9 in case you are wondering).

I don't want you to think I am an anti Microsoft troll so I will point out that this post is using Win7 Ult. on my main desktop and that I also run Win7 pro, Win7 HP, XP pro and XP home. I am still playing (however seriously) with Ubuntu Linux as shown in my previous post. One can never allow oneself to become to complacent or cease to learn...this is the path to senility.

I can't wait for MS to drop support for XP, it finally means I can get rid of my XP Laptop which I only ever use to troubleshoot OTHER PEOPLES PROBLEMS (not on this forum, I work in Tech Support).

Three things could happen:

a. I am more in demand because there's no MS support and I make lots of money or

b. Everyone migrates to Seven and is problem free or

c. Everyone migrates to Seven and don't understand how to use it and it's business as usual.

There has to be a cut off point somewhere along the line, I mean if MS continued to support 95 until 2005 then far fewer people would have upgraded to 98, 2000 or XP.

Oh and I use Fedora because of its colour scheme .

Using Back-Track 4, it's based on Ubuntu 8.04 but with KDE instead of GNOME! Rawr!! I love KDE though

Well, I too will continue to use Windows 7 as well....but only on one machine as the software can get a bit expensive... For other machines and when I want a break from Microsoft, I've got Linux to fall back on.

I have wasted way too many days over the past 2 decades in trying to "get" Linux. I still don't "get" it...my last install of Ubuntu lasted the longest but eventually it blew itself up too.

Linux is so exhausting with nothing of substance in return.
