after using it for a few days i'm really impressed. I read The Omnivore's Dilemma tonight at work while listening to music in the background via bluetooth headphones without a hitch, and my arm didnt get tired holding up the device.

Glad to hear it.....excellent book. I've always been impressed by the user experience you get with Apple products. As my not techie father told me "they just work".

I'm considering getting one myself.

Is it worth the money or is it just very good but very over priced?

Oh and I loved that new badge you were adorning before .

It was worth it being free... Not sure its woth what i would have paid for it had it not been a gift. I need to get pages and numbers, i cant currently look at patient charts with graphs like i want to, maybe having wp and spreadsheet software would make them render correctly instead of using the built in previewer. Im impressed with the functionality so far. Its an impressive device for movies, music, reading news, email, and keeping notes. Ill post about how installing other apps works out.

OK thanks for the advice.

Be careful about posting about jailbroken apps, I'm not sure if it falls within the rules because it could be counted as illegal (and look what John did to you just for talking about the iPad ).

thanks, I edited it to be safe. I'm pretty frustrated right now with the lack of any flash support. I tried to watch a couple episodes of the daily show from last week and those didnt work out, so I tried to watch some country music videos, those didnt work either.

I highly recommend one. The wife and I went to the Norfolk, VA store for launch day. She got one for her birthday and I got tired of fighting with her to use it. So I bought one.

I love it. I'm watching Avatar on it with a pair $150 Sennheisers and it sounds and looks amazing. Over halfway through the movie and the battery went down 1 whole percent.

I'm guessing that is a 1% drop from 100 to 99?

It is a well known fact that iPhone (and iPod touch, iPad etc.) batterie life is higher than the 100% shown on the device; if it could display the actual battery full percentage I would guess it would to be nearer 120% than 100% hence only the 1% drop in battery for a full hour of video.

As an iPhone user myself, is there much to be gained from the iPad other than screen size? I admit that is an important factor because it means you've got more space to play with and it makes reading things a lot easier (for instance this forum) and thus the addition of iBooks exploits this but what else is there to be gained for my 530 (thats the WiFi + 3G 16GB)?

So much more. The iPad feels a thousand times faster than my 3G iPhone, the internet on wifi is so much faster because of the 802.11n speeds, the screen sized and quality is beyond compare, and the onscreen keyboard is easier to type on, too.

Plus, I use can use my iPad to RDP into Windows 7 and OS X. Even though Windows 7 Home Premium on my desktop doesn't have the RDP protocol, I can still RDP into 7 Professional on my Macbook, or into OS X and then network over to the desktop. It's sweet.

First two things are great if they hold true for me, I guess the only way for me to be able to appreciate it for exactly what it is is to go into and an Apple shop when it's finally released over here and have a play.

I'm quite happy with my iPhone at the moment so I won't bother preordering one.

Thanks fo the feedback and the advice guys much appreciated.
