Another thing we might ponder is why there are fewer female sci fi fans and, indeed there appear to be fewer female computer geeks.
I'm not sure how to find out but there seem to be far fewer female members on this forum.
Also the ones that I'm aware of tend to post in the less competitive threads.
If you look at the show us your rig, desktop, enormous heat sink, humongous overclock type threads there appear to be mainly male posters.
So "boys toys" and boys are more competitive?
I know lots of female computer users but they tell me I'm boring if I start talking about computers, new developments on the way, new stuff like Google OS or Wave etc.

Are they innately more conservative-"I'm fine with I.E. and Facebook thanks" and don't wish to experiment.
Or is it back to male competitiveness- "My browser is faster and better than yours"

    Worth pondering surely?:)

Why typically is the Sci-Fi genre something that most computer geeks enjoy? I mean, most people think "Computer geek, well he/she likes Star Trek, blah blah"

Now I am a computer geek and I do love Star Trek, and just about anything Sci-Fi so I hide behind nothing. But what is it in that genre that attracts us computer nerds? And by the way fellas, please refrain from posting pics of Seven of Nine in a skin tight catsuit or Counselor Troi's pouty lips. thanks!
    - blast and she's a babe, too..!!
