Today I've been doing my bit for the local community
I'm rebuilding and securing the Internet cafe in my local community center.
It's ten Vista home premium machines with three network printers, that have been in use for a couple of years without any system management
I've managed to get three back to a semblance of order and installed Spiceworks to monitor things and Teamviewer so I can work from home as much as possible (MSE is installed too ). All free software as the Charity have no money
Things are not made easy as two machines I'd checked had the Ethernet patch cables stolen - the staff wondered why they could not access the net
The original company that set things up passworded everything and promptly went bust without passing any info to the center Staff Including taking the volume license keys for office with them
Oh well I like a challenge
Thanks Guys
I think some of the regulars are going to get a big shock when the system is finished ....
No more loading any software without authorization and full control of access to the net but at least they'll have a system that they can use
Tonight (oops) we have our 6th week of bean bag league. I am in a bar league and we play other bars here in town. We are pretty good but its not the most serious thing ever, basically its a good time to drink a few beers, meet some new people, and have some fun playing bean bags against some complete strangers :)
Nigel, you just got some brownie points from me (rep not possible in Chillout)!
Any change you can find those Office licenses?
