Thanks, guys. This is quite new thing in my life; although I've had these problems a couple years now, I just got it diagnosed last month. I'm still learning to cope, one important thing for instance is to learn to anticipate an upcoming attack. It could have catastrophic consequences to drive 200 kmph on these German no-speed-limit-Autobahns, when suddenly you can not focus anymore and the whole world starts spinning.

It's also a question of dignity, or rather how to maintain it when a sudden vertigo attack hits and you throw up on your lap in a full restaurant or tram or something Only happened twice, but IMO it's twice too often.

Kari, I am happy it is diagnosed and you are under treatment. I sincerely hope it goes well.

I would also bet on the side effects to be related to the drug. Many years ago my mother took some medicine where very few side effects were reported. She almost dies, had swollen extremities, rashes, really bad. She told the doctor and apparently all he said was "uhn!". But some time later the medication started to have a lot more side effects listed... No coincidence...

Again, I hope it works well for you

    Kari,
Go to this site for more detailed info and comments by patients and some of the side effects.
    WebMD Health Search

Like histamine/histine products will cause some drowsiness, dry mouth and so on.
Keep me posted if I can be of help.
    Found this:
There is no side effect information available for this product at this time. A healthcare professional should be consulted before taking any drug, changing any diet or commencing or discontinuing any course of treatment
It's just that I've got these stomach cramps since having this drug, but my doctor says it's not a side effect of the drug, still not finding another explanation
Stomach cramps? Not related to betahistine at all!
What other meds are you taking in conjunction with this?
Ask the pharmacists to look at you medication history and see if there is a conflict with the drugs you are taking.
What a cramps on scale of 1-10 where 10 is unbearable. How long to they last?
What kind of diet are you on if any? Do you use a lot of salt or eat salted peanuts?
Stay very close with you doctor on your condition. Feedback is important just like here in Win7Forum. Best wishes!

Howling, I numbered your questions. Here are the answers:

    1. Only Antihistamine, I have pollen allergies. Have tried all possible drugs, prescription and homeopathic, for insomnia, finished because nothing helped.

    2. I would say 4 or 5. Mostly about an hour or so after I wake up.

    3. As much beef and other meat as possible, hot and spicy. According to Angie, too little of what I call "cow feed" i.e green stuff, veg's and so. Also, again according to my dear wife, too much whisky, wine, sherry and beer. Love sweets and ice-cream.

I have to add I've gained some 9 kilo's (about 20 pounds) in last 8 weeks, since my retirement

As I told earlier, I meet both ENT specialist and neurologist regularly.

    1. Antihistamines are smooth muscle relaxants.....causing drowsiness, dry mouth and are in the same family of drugs used for stomach (IBS) problems.
    2. Get this message to your doctor.
    3. Sorry Kari, cut back whiskey, wine and beer.
    4. Sweets before going to bed are not a good idea either.
Just keep me posted by (pm) to me if you want.

I just woke up about 15 minutes ago, and now have turned on USA vs. Algeria while I go through my forums. We were just saved by the crossbar! Nothing quite like the vuvuzela sound in the morning
apparently there are real vuvuzela bands who are a bit upset about all the negative publicity the instrument has been getting:)

I am tempted to seek out some proper vuvuzela music on the net and see what it sounds like but on the other hand I could sort out my sock drawer instead.

    Tough choice
John ..sort the sox.. that's really useful when you are short of time..lol.. enjoy !!!

Kari hello.. I have some inner ear balance problems when I'm having really bad sinus in the Spring with all the pollen ...if I fail to take Singular early on.. then I've had to take .. a medication called. Meclizine HCI 25 mg.. it's actually for Travel Sickness..but works great for my dizziness...
I buy it over the counter at Wal-Marts.. not expensive at all... 100 tablets for $10.
Mine is caused from the blocked tube in my inner ear.

The best advice is for Kari to see a doctor or an ENT (Ears, Nose & Throat) specialist.
There are many causes for dizziness, ringing in the ear or balance issues.
For us to recommend or what we use for our symptoms is not the proper way to help Kari! What works for you may not work for me.
    SEE A DOCTOR!
Here.. here.. you are so very correct.. that was my expereince only.

Kari I really hope you can get relief from this problem...make notes on what you have eaten /drank, then when a problem arises .. that might be a clue.
Will be thinking about you.. take good care of yourself.:)
